What is a CS:GO Profile Rank?
Let’s find out everything about CS:GO profile ranks and Service Medals! A CS:GO profile rank is a cosmetic upgrade for the Counterstrike Global Offensive player profile.
Achieving profile ranks offers a longterm non-competitive progress that players can put effort into to improve their account.
Important: The profile ranks are just cosmetic ranks, and do not define the skill of a player.

The CS:GO profile ranks are classified into 40 ranks and can also be seperated into 15 profile rank groups from “Recruit” up to “Global General”.
Each of the 40 profile ranks got it’s own icon that will be displayed in the CS GO profile, in the main menu and also inside the game on the scoreboard. Every fourth level you will get a new profile rank group title (until you reach level 36, then there is a new title fore every level).
To get the CS:GO profile ranks you simply need to earn XP, which you get for playing matches. Read below, how to get XP fast in CS:GO.
What are the CS:GO Profile Ranks for?
- CS:GO Profile ranks show, that you are an experienced player. It shows for example that you are no smurf! The profile ranks need a lot of time to get, that means smurf players will not reach them fast!
- Through the Profile Rank, Valve can determine if you are ready to play ranked: For ranked CS GO matches a player needs to have the Private Rank 2 or higher.
- To play prime account matchmaking a player needs to have the Private Rank 21 or higher.

What are CS:GO Service Medals?
A CS:GO Service Medal is a cosmetic profile item, which represents a huge achievement. It takes a lot of time to unlock CS:GO Service Medals: For each one, you need the profile rank level 40.
CS:GO Service Medals are distributed into yearly medals, which came into the game in 2015.
Each yearly medal has 2-7 levels and can be upgraded by reaching level 40 again.

How to get CS:GO Service Medals?
To get a CS:GO Service Medal, players have to reach the profile rank 40. Everytime you reach profile rank 40 in CS:GO you get a Service Medal. Afterwards you start at profile rank 1 again and a Service Medal will be shown in your profile.
As you can see in the image, I got the Service Medal, and I am Recruit rank 1 again.

Beside your small profile, in which you can always see your newest Service Medal, you can also watch your medal archive: To see all of your medals in CS:GO, click on inventory and then choose the filter “display”, now you can choose the tab “medals”.

To get XP in CS:GO you need to play matches:
CS:GO is rewarding playtime with experience points. It happens in the background, while you play, you make XP all the time. The most played mode in CS:GO is the competitive ranked mode, in this mode you earn points for every won round and your own score, that means that your team performance can affect your XP boost.
The different modes and you score directly determine how much XP you get. Because of that it’s important to know which gamemodes in CS:GO give the most XP:

Tips and Tricks How to level up fast in CS:GO to get more Service Medals?
Valve is interested in measuring XP equally and it’s true: When playing different CS:GO game modes, will always end up with around 360 XP in a timeframe of 30 minutes! It depends on your performance though and can be lower or higher!
- Noobs/new players gain a XP boost to level up fast early.
- You can also gain XP while playing CS:GO missions.
- The XP bonus boost gives an extra 5000 XP boost every week! It multiplies the earned experience.
- If you play with bots, you will only get XP if you play with at least 1 human player.
