What is DPI and How to Change it in CS:GO?
DPI stands for “dots per inch” and it directly affects the sensitivity of the mouse. DPI is also called CPI, which stands for “counts per inch”. DPI means that if you move the mouse with your hand, that the system will measure the amount of DPI as single points on one inch. If the DPI is 400, then 400 points on one inch on your mousepad will be tracked, the sensitivity is 400 points for the area of one inch on the mousepad. The higher the DPI the more sensitive it is. Depending on the settings, a higher DPI leads to a higher distance of the mouse on the screen, with a smaller distance on the mousepad. It’s not better to play with more DPI, and it’s a marketing fake to sell mouses with more DPI numbers.
How can I change the DPI in CS:GO?
The DPI can not be changed in CS:GO it’s a mouse attribute, therefore open the mouse settings of your mouse software or use a special button directly on your mouse to adjust the DPI. Every mouse got a default DPI number which can be changed. You can also change the Windows mouse settings and adjust the speed.
How can I find out my DPI in CS:GO?
Every mouse uses a different default DPI value, to find out the DPI that you are using for CS:GO, use our DPI calculator.
What is eDPI?
eDPI stands for “effective Dots per Inch” which calculates the effective sensitivity of a player without paying attention to his hardware. eDPI multiplies the DPI with the in-game sensitivity, like that the true sensitivity can be defined.
To calculate the real sensitivity of your mouse, use this formula:
Multiply the DPI with the mouse sensitivity of the game menu.
400 (DPI) x 2 (Mouse Sensitivity) = 800 (Real Sensitivity)
What is Mouse Sensitivity and How to Change it in CS:GO?

It comes on top of the default settings you for your mouse and in Windows. What Is Mouse Acceleration in CS:GO?
In CS:GO the mouse acceleration means that your crosshair moves a bit more when you are moving your mouse faster. If you turn around or move to a specific area very fast, the mouse acceleration adds extra speed, but the real destination will be kind of inaccurate. Therefore the mouse acceleration is deactivated by default. It’s a method that is based on muscle memory and if you play a lot you might be able to deal good with it, some pro players are using mouse acceleration.
To use mouse acceleration in CS:GO use the following commands:
Console Command: | Function: |
m_customaccel [0 – 3] | Choose the level of acceleration 0 = turns it off 1 = maximum acceleration: the camera will move faster the quicker the mouse will be moved 2 = custom mouse acceleration: Requires X and Y-axis, m_pitch and m_yaw commands to be set. 3 = turns mouse acceleration on, but affected by the sensivity |
m_customaccel_exponent [Start Point] | Controls the speed, how fast the mouse have to be used to activate acceleration. The default value is 1.05. |
m_customaccel_max [Max Point] | Sets a maximum speed for the acceleration activation. |
m_customaccel_scale [Scale] | Sets the value for the mouse acceleration command. The default value is 0.04. |
m_mouseaccel1 [Value] | Sets the mouse acceleration value to 2x movement speed. The default value is 0. |
m_mouseaccel2 [Value] | Sets the mouse acceleration value to 4x movement speed. The default value is 0. |
